Phase 4. Natural Sugars. And Phase 5. Corn

I’ve been a bad blogger, so let’s back up a few days.

Just in case you’re curious, I’ve continued with all of the Arbonne products I started with. I don’t think I explained that.  The list of my day’s intake of supplements and food is:

  • Arbonne Digestion Plus (probiotics and enzymes)
  • Abonne Detox Tea (tastes like mint tea)
  • Arbonne Energy Fizz Sticks – 1 or 2 (can’t live without them!)
  • Arbonne Protein Shake Mix – usually chocolate and usually with coconut milk; one for breakfast and one for lunch
  • Snacks are usually avocado-related
  • Dinner is whatever recipe sounds good

Phase 4 – natural sugars.  The Arbonne literature recommends things like honey, agave, and, if you have to, organic cane sugar.  I feel like I’m being boring, because I found this, in no way, exciting.  I come from a long line of sugar freaks.  My grandpa always said “I’m full.  Just enough room for dessert.” and would then fill a plate with a little of this and a little of that from the desserts hanging around.  Our family reunions?  50% food, 50% desserts.  Good desserts.  It’s so crazy that I was not interested in doing the sugar thing.  Not curious.  Not tempted.  Literally, indifferent.  If you’ve been reading along from the beginning, you’ll remember the first three days of my detox were crazy challenging because of the sugar addiction.  Gnawing hunger regardless of whether I finished eating five minutes earlier or drank a gallon of water.  It was ridiculous.  Honestly, I don’t want to go back to feeling like I need it.  It’s dumb.

I had a couple of friends over last night, and, after being accused of making them suffer because of my diet, I caved and made some brownies.  With all legal stuff.  I used a 50/50 mix of organic raw cane sugar and coconut sugar.  Lots of chocolate 🙂 and they weren’t bad.  Not great either.  I believe the one who doesn’t really like chocolate to begin with said “best brownie I’ve had all day.”  Really, smart ass?  Go home.

This brings us to Phase 5.  Corn, and if there weren’t shitty movies in the theater, I would be going there to get some popcorn.  However, there ARE shitty, uninteresting movies in the theater right now.  OK.  To be fair, they’re not all shitty.  Let’s take a break from this Arbonne stuff for a minute and talk movies.  I feel like there are movies you HAVE to see in the theater, and there are movies, you should save your money on and watch on Netflix or rent from a Red Box.  Animated movies fall in the maybe-if-I-feel-like-it category that lives in the middle of the other two categories.  Superhero flicks?  I love them, and I want to see them in a theater every time.  Side Note:  Wonder Woman is coming to theaters in 25 days.  Any takers?  Movies like “Going in Style” or “Snatched”?  Well, yeah, I want to see them, but I can wait.  There’s nothing I’m going to get in a theater I can’t get in my own living room with the added benefit of an optional shower and my favorite sweats EXCEPT the popcorn, of course.

OK, back to the corn.  Is it sad I was excited to tell the man at Chipotle to put corn on my burrito bowl?  It is, and I was.  I was double excited to say, “Yes! Chips would be great.” when I got to the end of the counter.  I used a few of them like scoops for my burrito bowl.  The corn in the bowl was sweet and fantastic.  The chips, I could have lived without.  I had no reaction at all to the corn, which means I’ll be able to enjoy our sweet corn that’ll be ready in just a few, short months.

I was pretty surprised by my not liking the corn chips much.  They tasted kind of like the brown paper bag they came in, but I know I’ve had them before and loved them.  Things just taste different now, and I crave different things.

I almost forgot!!  I weighed in, and I’m down 30, that’s THIRTY pounds!  In six weeks, people! Also, I’ve been kind of feeling like getting some time in at the gym, lately, and a friend invited me to a Pound class close to home.  Have you ever heard of this?  Click here for video evidence that it’s a thing.  It’s fun, and it’s hard.  I did my best to keep up and lost control of my own legs half-way in.  I still can’t walk like a normal human.  I do a limp with a side of waddle.  I recommend not jumping into a class like this without at least doing a little bit of exercise in the six months preceding the class.

OK.  That’s all I’ve got.  I’ll write again in a couple of days.  Thanks for reading!

    1. As far as loss of pain, it has stayed away. I’ve continued to lose weight because I’ve really not strayed too far from the detox diet. If you want lasting results and want to continue achieving gains, use the second month to really figure out what foods don’t work for your body and eliminate them as much as possible. I still use the recipes given to me and have modified a few I’ve found online.
